American Belgian Malinois Rescue
Why this Organization?
In May 2022, my childhood dog Oscar passed away, leaving a hole in my heart. What I didn't know at the time was that my Belgian Malinois, Bella, was born on the very same day. A few months later, as I was still grieving, my partner at the time mentioned that his coworker knew someone whose dog had just had puppies, and they were looking for homes. Although I wasn't ready for a new dog, the emptiness I felt without a furry companion made me realize that Bella was exactly what I needed.
On July 16, 2022, we brought her home, and she’s been the best thing to ever happen to me. Raising a Belgian Malinois is no easy feat—trust me, I’ve put my blood, sweat, and even tears (literally) into raising her. Now, at 2 ½ years old, I couldn't be prouder to be her mom.
When Bella was a puppy, we had to use a pet-sitting service because, like many Belgian Malinois, she struggled with separation anxiety. She didn’t want to be alone when we had to work. Bella has taught me how to manage the energy and drive of a working breed dog. She's taught me patience, unconditional loyalty, and an incredible depth of love.
In my career, I’ve had the privilege of caring for nearly every breed of dog, but none compare to the Belgian Malinois. That's why I chose to partner with this organization—so many Malinois end up in shelters due to irresponsible breeding and uninformed ownership. I want to do my part to ensure that her breed gets the best chance at life. Nonprofits like this rely on donations, so the most impactful thing you can do is contribute.
What can I do to help?
With every dog pet sitting booking or dog custom portrait, a percentage of the profits will be donated to American Belgian Malinois Rescue.
Remember to do your research on dog breeds and see if their personality will fit your lifestyle.
